Our Approach
Metatrend uses a hybrid methodology that combines editorial expertise with community voting to produce tier rankings that reflect both competitive viability and player consensus. Our approach ensures that tier lists remain accurate, up-to-date, and representative of the actual meta.
We believe that tier lists should be transparent, regularly updated, and grounded in real gameplay data rather than theory alone.
Editorial + Community Voting
Editorial Review
Our editorial team consists of experienced players who have deep knowledge of Genshin Impact's mechanics, meta trends, and endgame content. They analyze character/weapon performance across different scenarios:
- Endgame PvE content (dungeons, challenges, boss fights)
- PvP performance and matchup strength
- Synergies with commonly available team compositions
- Investment requirements (gear, upgrades, resources)
- Versatility across different playstyles and content types
Community Input
The Genshin Impact community can vote on character and weapon tiers directly on the tier list page. Community votes serve as validation and help identify emerging strategies that may not be immediately obvious from theory.
However, editorial rankings take precedence to prevent manipulation and ensure consistency with actual competitive performance. Community votes inform but do not override our analysis.
Ranking Criteria
S Tier
Best-in-class performance. Dominant in their role with minimal weaknesses. Essential for endgame content and competitive play.
A Tier
Excellent choices that perform well in most scenarios. Strong picks that can compete with S tier in the right setup.
B Tier
Viable and effective but outclassed by higher tiers. Good for players who enjoy their playstyle or lack better alternatives.
C Tier
Situational picks that struggle in most content. May excel in niche scenarios but require significant investment.
Version & Patch Sensitivity
Genshin Impact tier lists are highly sensitive to game balance changes. We update our rankings immediately after major patches that introduce:
- New characters, weapons, or gear sets
- Balance adjustments to existing content
- Changes to endgame difficulty or mechanics
- New meta-defining synergies
Every guide and tier list page displays the patch version it was last updated for, ensuring you always know whether the information is current.
Transparency & Credentials
All tier list rankings and guides are written by named authors with verifiable credentials:
- Endgame progression experience and clear rates
- Guild leadership or participation in competitive Genshin Impact communities
- Regular testing with new characters and builds
Author profiles include credentials, social links, and content history so you can evaluate expertise for yourself. We do not use anonymous rankings.
Continuous Updates
Our tier lists are living documents that evolve with the meta. We use a combination of editorial oversight and agent-driven automation to keep content fresh:
- Automated detection of patch notes and balance changes
- Weekly review of community feedback and vote trends
- Rapid updates within 48 hours of major patches
- Content freshness indicators on every page

Our goal is to provide the most accurate and useful tier lists for the Genshin Impact community. Your input helps us refine our approach and catch oversights.
